MISSION
LA PERLA
Building a ministry center in
La Perla, Puerto Rico
WHAT'S THE STORY?
Since 2010 EHF has worked intermittently alongside a local pastor in Puerto Rico. It was during relief efforts after hurricane Maria that we felt lead to invest in a small dilapidated property that would serve as our community hub, coffee shop and multi purpose church space. In September 2018
community leaders extended invitations for us to do more and requested that we specifically focus on the neighborhood's biggest challenge and greatest opportunity for long lasting impact, the youth.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
La Perla is the most notorious neighborhood in all of Puerto Rico and is historically steeped in generational, academic, economic and spiritual poverty.
"Our goal is to build relationships and love and serve the youth."
Hector Vega, EHF Senior Pastor
WHAT WILL WE DO?
We are making a long term commitment to build a self sustaining venture that will allow us to serve the neighborhood, build relationships and introduce a generation of at risk youth to Jesus.
Our goal is to serve 50-75 kids weekly through academic enrichment, sports and vocational outlets centered on a holistic gospel centered approach. Life-on-life mentorship will come by way of opportunities to learn life skills by working in the coffee shop.
The space will also be used for community engagement, activities and church services.
